SEAA U15/U20 Championships at Abingdon 27th August 2011
14 year old Cornish athlete, Oliver Clark had an outstanding day at the annual South of England U15/U20 Inter Counties Championships held at Tilsley Park Stadium, Abingdon, near Oxford, winning the Under 15 Boys Triple Jump & breaking a 32 year old County Record for third place in the Long Jump.
Heavy showers could not dampen the spirits of the Cornish athletes attending the Annual South West Inter Counties Track & Field Championships at Exeter Arena on Sunday, as the team finished third overall, behind Devon & Somerset, the Men's team finishing second, 42 podium places and 35 personal best performances. This is the best Male team placing for many years, with strong teams right across the age groups. The overall placing could also have been even better had it not been for a worrying lack of older female athletes, which meant that they finished sixth out of the seven Counties taking part. Due mainly to holidays or illness, not a single Under 20 was available for selection and only three Seniors competed.
Entries at the Cornwall County AA Track and Field Championships held at Par Track on Sunday were only just over the 200 mark but made up for this with some quality performances producing twelve new Championship Records, including one which broke a 31 year old County Record, another breaking a Championship Record 32 years old and a milestone on the track in the 400m Senior race.
