SW Inter Counties Track & Field Championships 2015 - Report & Results
For a time, it looked as though one of the strongest Cornwall County Athletics teams for many years were going to triumph at the Annual South West Inter Counties meeting at Exeter on Sunday with the normally dominant Devon team a close second.
But in the end, a lack of numbers in some age groups allowed our larger neighbours to push ahead with Wiltshire also getting the better of the Duchy team by just 30 points.
Third place wasn’t what the team managers were hoping for but it was still pleasing to see so many don the Gold and Black vests with pride and do so well for their County with 50 podium placings, including 24 Championship winners. Two age groups, The under 15 Boys and Senior Women, won overall with five other age groups in second against teams from Avon, Devon, Dorset, Gloucester, Somerset and Wiltshire. Many of the athletes took the advantage of having a high quality competition on their doorstep to improve on their own personal performances.
