Par Sport & Recreation Ground
Par track is a key part of the Par Sport and Recreation Ground which is administered and managed through Polkyth Leisure Centre, the main indoor sports facility in St. Austell. It has a 6-lane all-weather synthetic track and is fully equiped with facilities for all athletic events including throwing cage, shot putt, jumps and sandpits, pole vault and steeplechase. Floodlighting is used in bad light.
The site also comprises 3 football pitches, the main one of which is to a professional standard and lies within the athletics arena; this is used for major matches October through to March. However, athletics carries on throughout the year, the only restriction being in hammer throwing where use of a chain instead of the full ball is required.
The track is the home of Newquay & Par Athletic Club who share the clubhouse.
